A 32-year-old pork knocker of Arakaka , Baramita North West District, was today charged with the murder of a farmer. Ruben Calvis appeared via Zoom before Magistrate Dylon Bess at the Matthews Ridge Magistrate’s Court.

He was not required to plead to the indictable charge which stated that on November 6, 2020, at Cassie Creek, Baramita, North West District, he murdered Jonah Williams called Wammick.

He was remanded to prison until March 2, 2021. According to reports, on the day in question, at around 15:00 hrs, a student of Baramita Primary School was going to her grandparent’s home when she observed a motionless male who appeared to be dead lying in a trail.

The child told her grandparents what she saw. As a result, her grandfather went to the area and he confirmed what she saw and reported the same to the Village Toshao. The matter was then reported to Baramita Police Station.

The deceased’s body was examined and it was observed to have a chop wound to his left arm and one chop wound to his abdomen.
