An investigation has been launched by the Guyana Police Force’s Division 4’C into a fatal accident that occurred just after midnight on Monday claiming the life of 44-year-old Shazie Hoosain of Green Field, East Coast Demerara (ECD).

According to a police report, Hoosain and a 16-year-old were passengers in motorcar PJJ 485 driven by 22-year-old Saif Arjune. Arjune reportedly lost control of the vehicle and collided with a utility pole on the northern side of the road, subsequently crashing into a culvert.

As a result, the driver and other occupants received injuries about their bodies. Police ranks who responded took them to the Mahaicony Cottage Hospital, where Hoosain was pronounced dead on arrival by a doctor.

The driver and the 16-year-old were subsequently transferred to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation for further treatment.

A Breathalyzer test was conducted on the 22-year-old driver which read .186% and .183% BAC. Investigations are ongoing.
