Dead: Kwal Dindon (News Room photo)

A welder who is accused of fatally stabbing a man at a birthday party was on Thursday charged with murder. He was remanded to prison. 21-year-old Mark Doliveira called ‘Buck boy’, a welder, of 42 Shell  Road Kitty, appeared before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan in the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts.

Doliveria was not required to plead to the indictable charge which stated that between June 19, 2021, and June 20, 2021, at Sandy Babb Street, Kitty, Georgetown, he murdered  23-year-old Kwal Dindon, called ‘Coolie boy’.  The murder accused will make another court appearance on July 16.

Facts presented by the court prosecutor stated that Dindon and Doloveria were at a birthday celebration when they were involved in a heated argument. The argument led to a scuffle between the two. It was then that Doliveia armed himself with a knife and dealt Dindon several stabs about his body.

The injured man was picked up and rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) where he was admitted and later died while receiving treatment.  Doliveria was later arrested and reportedly admitted to the offence under caution. The Police file was sent to the chambers of the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) which advised that Doliveria be charged with the capital offence.

A post mortem examination conducted on Dindon revealed that he died from shock and hemorrhage due to stab wounds.
