486 police officers to get house lot allocations shortly

Four hundred and eighty-six (486) members of the Guyana Police Force (GPF) are expected to be allocated house lots shortly, following an intervention by the Police Association.

Chief Executive Officer of the Central Housing and Planning Authority (CH&PA) Sherwin Greaves along with Director at the agency Denise King- Tudor, met with Chairman of the Police Association Detective Inspector Prem Narine.

During the meeting, it was pointed out that hundreds of ranks have applied for house lots close to a decade ago but were never contacted by the Central Housing and Planning Authority.

“The Association would have highlighted that over the pass few years there were little or no allocation of house lots to it’s members,” the Police Association Chairman told the meeting.

As a result, the CH&PA heads agreed to expedite the process and integrate police officers into each of the developing housing schemes.

“It would mean a lot of the officers are given their land  because after the first meeting of the association, we sent a message for the information to be provided and within two or three days, a number of ranks responded. That tells me they’re eager to get their houselots,” Narine said.

Narine was elected Chairman of the association in early May, 2021.

He said his team is looking at other ways to assist ranks of the police force to ensure that they are recognized for their hard work.

He was accompanied by Vice Chairman of the Police Association Inspector Kooldeep and other members.
