Half of the country’s prison population is fully vaccinated against COVID-19 says Rajiv Bisnauth, Public Relations of the Guyana.

In its publication, “The Key”, the Prison Service said that 55% prisoners received the first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine while and 50% are fully vaccinated.

“70% of prison officers and other staff members are fully vaccinated,” Bisnauth is quoted as saying.

Additionally, he noted that there has been weekly vaccination drive at each prison facility which is done in collaboration with the Ministry of Heath

Through this is an initiative to “increase confidence in COVID-19 vaccines and reinforce basic prevention
measures among inmates,” the Prison Service said.
