Father, 4-Y-O son killed in Blackbush accident

Police have confirmed the death of a man and his four year old son following an accident, along the Lesbeholden Public Road, Black Bush Polder, Corentyne, Berbice.
Dead are 32-year-old Joseph Mangar of Limlair Village, Corentyne, Berbice, and four-year-old Johnathan Mangar, who was reportedly an occupant in the vehicle at the time of the crash.
According to police, the fatal incident occurred at about 13:50 hrs on Wednesday and involved motor car PYY 2317, which was being driven by Joseph Mangar.
Initial investigations revealed that the vehicle was proceeding south along the Lesbeholden Public Road at an alleged fast rate of speed when the driver reportedly lost control.
The car subsequently veered off the roadway and ended up in a canal on the western side of the road.
The vehicle became completely submerged, prompting nearby public-spirited citizens to rush to the scene and pull both occupants from the wreckage.
They were transported to the Port Mourant Public Hospital, where they were pronounced dead on arrival by a doctor on duty.
The bodies have since been taken to a funeral home where post-mortem examinations are expected to be conducted.
Police investigations into the fatal incident are continuing.
