A 19-year-old driver was arrested in connection with an accident which claimed the life of 25-year-old Nareshwar Arjune aka Ryan.

According to a police report, 19-year-old Khatan Sukhlal was driving a jeep that bore the registration number PJJ 8723 on 7:40h on Thursday along the Bushy Park Public Road at Mahaicony, East Coast Demerara. It was reported that Sukhal collided with the rear end of motorcar PCC 5219 which Arjune was driving causing the man to lose control of the car and swerve into oncoming traffic.

As a result, Arjune collided with motorcar HD 2859 being driven by 26-year-old Kevin Bagot, which was proceeding west along the southern side of the road.

Bagot was in the hire car with his reputed wife and they both were injured along with Arjune. The trio were picked up and transported to the Mahaicony Public Hospital where they were seen and examined by a doctor on duty who pronounced Arjune dead on arrival.

The driver of the motor Jeep was given a Breathalyzer test which recorded zero micrograms of alcohol. He is in custody and assisting with the ongoing investigation.
