In another step to see the revitalization of extracurricular activities at the University of Guyana, the UGSS received a donation of sporting equipment from the Demerara Volleyball Association (DVA).
The donation, which comprised a number of volleyballs, was handed over last week.
President of the DVA, Kristoff Sheppherd, underscored the associationโs intention to see the universityโs volleyball team restarted after its hiatus owing to the COVID-19 pandemic and other internal issues.
โThe last volleyball team that UG had was 2020โฆI know UGโs core potential because there are people there from all walks of life and we need to give them a chance,โ he explained.
Sheppherd acknowledged the work of the UGSS to see sporting activities return to the university and said that this is one of the main reasons the DVA opted to partner with the student organization.
โThe newly elected UGSS has been working a lot. I must say kudos to the President Shaquawn Gill [and his team]. Every promise they have made they have deliveredโฆso we definitely are looking forward to continuing to partner with them,โ he pointed out.
