UPDATE: Cousins shared birthday cake before tragic deaths

Moments before they died together, the cousins who were fished out of a creek earlier today, Sunday September 8,2024 spent some time together sticking a birthday cake.
The occasion was the 10th birthday of Akira LaRose of Lot 95 Stewartville, West Coast Demerara. Her cousin, 11 year old Joylyn Jack of Lot 1762 Tuschen, East Bank Essequibo was the one she chose to stick her birthday cake with.
Just after 15:00hrs today, the two girls were fished out unresponsive from the Enchanter Creek along the Soesdyke Linden Highway in the vicinity of Splashmains.
Efforts to resuscitate them were futile.
The Guyana Police Force in an official statement noted that the children went to the creek along with adults inclusive of their grandmother and the father one of the dead girls.
The police confirmed that there were no marks of violence on the any of the bodies.
Postmortem examinations will be conducted on the remains to confirm the cause of death.
