Top 10 NGSA performers recognised by Superbet, Fibre Tech

The Top Performers with officials of the Ministry of Education and a Superbet Representative
This year’s top National Grade Six Assessment (NGSA) performers have been rewarded by two business entities for their exceptional performances at the annual examination.
Samuel Barkoye, Rovin Lall, Alexander Singh, Lianna Dharampaul, Brandon Ramdin, Britney Peters, Gabriel Felix, Dhanesh Tularam, Yuki Clarke, Charisma Etwaroo, Salmah Bacchus and Robert Forrester on Wednesday received the first of a series of goodies and appreciation for their hard work at the exam which saw them sharing spots in the top ten positions.
The high achievers were recognized by Fibre Tech out of the East Coast Demerara, and Superbet, which has its head office in Kingston.
In his remarks to the young boys and girls who attained grades that will see them entering the top schools in Guyana, Nikalie Primo of Superbet told the children that Guyana and the world over, has been faced with a lot of challenges over the last few months. He noted that they have managed to buckle down, ignore the obstacles and work.
He said such attitude is one which needs to be adopted by all persons, even business operators if they are to become successful.
The company teamed up with Metro Office Supplies to ensure that the top ten performers receive vouchers to access stationery and other school-based resources offered by Metro, to support them throughout their secondary school lives.
Chief Education Officer Dr. Marcel Hutson reminded the students that the race is not for the swift as he spared a thought for the boys and girls who did not make it to the top ten positions but were able to still gain good grades and school, irrespective of their individual challenges which might never be known.
According to the CEO, the success of the students had to be a collective approach as it could not have been the teachers alone without the support of the parents.
Meanwhile, Education Minister Priya Manickchand welcomed the initiative by the two business entities. She assured the students that many other persons have been calling the Ministry seeking to locate them and or to give them rewards through the ministry for their performance during the NGSA.
She urged the students to see how best they can start their earlier savings account and to also prepare for more online classes even after the coronavirus has passed.
The Education Minister urged the students to apply their efforts as far as possible to invest in tablets for learning.
