Tuschen resident to get new home from First Lady.

First Lady Arya Ali, accompanied by Minister of Local Government and Regional Development Nigel Dharamlall paid a visit to Dolly Ward, a less fortunate resident of Tuschen East Bank Essequibo.
The 53-year-old mother of four was in tears of joy after the meeting with the First Lady who has offered to rebuild her dilapidated home.

Ward told the BIG SMITH NEWS WATCH that this act of kindness means a lot as she has sought help from many other agencies and has been unsuccessful, the woman noted that she was brought to tears in her pursuit of trying to get a proper home.
She explained that in the past, her children were often made fun of for the state of the house they live in and it has caused her family much distress.

Ward added that she has one child preparing to write CXC at present and other who will sit the exams next year.
Upon hearing this, the First Lady told Ward to make contact with her once the children’s exams have been completed, as they will be provided with scholarships to take them on a further educational path.
In addition, the woman has been signed up for the government’s part-time employment project where she will be given an income for a few days of work monthly, this she claims will assist in taking care of her husband who is bedridden.

Ward said that she earns a living by doing domestic work ‘here and there’ and rears chickens to help feed her family.
The woman was emotional as she expressed her gratitude to the President and First Lady of Guyana for providing her the necessary assistance to aid her family.
The first lady has previously donated housing assistance to the less fortunate, last October, five orphaned siblings benefited from a complete semi furnished three-bedroom home from Mrs. Ali.
The siblings had then, been living with relatives who used to constantly threaten to evict them since the tragic death of their parents.
After battling innumerable challenges, the orphaned siblings had reached out to the First Lady, for assistance in acquiring their own home, the commitment was made and within the year, the siblings were handed their new home.
