Traffic Advisory: Temporary Road Closures and Diversions for GUYEXPO

November 13 2025
The Guyana Police Force Traffic Department, in collaboration with Regional Police Division #4A, has announced that several temporary traffic arrangements will be in effect from Thursday, November 13 to Sunday, November 16, 2025, to facilitate the hosting of GUYEXPO 2025 at the Sophia Exhibition Centre.
According to the information issued by the Traffic Department, these measures— including road closures, diversions, and priority traffic routes— are designed to ensure smooth traffic flow, public safety, and efficient access to and from the venue during the four-day event.
Road Closures (No-Entry Points):
The following intersections will be temporarily closed to certain directions of traffic:
Garnett & Sheriff Street – No Entry East
Eastern Highway & Dennis Street – No Entry South
Duncan & Lions Club Street – No Entry West
Duncan & Durbana Square – No Entry West
Garnett & Eastern Highway – No Entry South
Bel Air Road & Garnett Street – No Entry East
Stone Avenue & Garnett Street – No Entry East
Parking Arrangements:
VVIP and Public Parking will be available in designated lots on the western side of the Exhibition Centre (internal area).
Concessionaires Parking will be located in the eastern section within the venue.
Paid Parking is also available; however, officials reserve the right to close parking areas depending on capacity or other operational needs.
Illegally parked vehicles obstructing traffic flow will be towed at the owner’s expense.
Traffic Arrangements:
Duncan Street will serve as the priority route for eastbound traffic heading toward the Sophia Exhibition Centre, catering to both concessionaires and general attendees.
Dennis Street will function as a priority east–west route to and from the venue, including access through the Northern Gate.
Eastern Highway traffic will be permitted to proceed north only.
Residents in surrounding areas can access their homes via Duncan or Dennis Streets and adjoining minor roads.
Garnett Street will serve as the primary VIP access route for the opening ceremony on November 13, after which it will accommodate westbound traffic only from November 14–16.
The Traffic Department urges motorists and attendees to adhere to all signs and instructions from traffic ranks on duty.
These measures, officials noted, are necessary to ensure the safe movement of vehicles and pedestrians and to minimize congestion around the Sophia Exhibition Centre during GUYEXPO 2025.
