SBL: Saints top Roses

St. Stanislaus College got their first win of the School Basketball League (SBL) with a 48-39 win over St. Roses High School on Friday afternoon at the Burnham Hard Court.
The game started with both teams going back and forth with Saints taking the opening stanza 10-9.
Saints were able to hold Roses to single digits in three out of the four quarters of the game to come away with the win despite a valiant third quarter effort by Roses that saw them score 22 points in the quarter to tie the game at 34 heading into the fourth period.
However, Saint picked up their defensive intensity again and held St. Roses to just five points in the quarter.
Ralson Pollard led all scorers for Saints with 24 points and seven rebounds and had some help from Demetri Crandon who had 12 points and four steals.
Scoring for Roses came from Cristian Williams who had 12 points in the losing effort.
Meanwhile, in the second game of the day, Queen’s College (QC) outplayed Marian Academy to win their second consecutive game of the league 48 to 14.
Darren Dublin had 17 points for QC while Nathan Morrison chipped in with 11 points and seven rebounds.
