Guyana Bodybuilding team poised for success at CAC Games in St. Lucia

As the countdown to the Central American and Caribbean (CAC) Games in St. Lucia begins, the President of the Guyana Bodybuilding and Fitness Federation, Roger Callender is brimming with confidence ahead of the September 26-27 event.
“Well, we currently have nine athletes that are prepped and ready to rumble in St. Lucia for the CAC Games. We had some of our top athletes just became pros, so we have a fresh batch of athletes that are now going to the international stage to vie to be able to get a pro card, get some gold medals and I am very confident in this batch of athletes. Some young fresh blood,” Callender highlighted.
With nine athletes ready to showcase their talents on the international stage, the federation is optimistic about securing medals and potential pro cards.
“We are very confident in them, they put in the work, they are very disciplined, they have unique genetics which is fitting for each category that they are going into. So we are definitely looking to bring home at least nine medals.”
The team comprises a mix of experience and youth, and that balance is intentional as Callender stressed the benefits of having such a mix of experience and new athletes.
“The mix that we currently have, we only have about four of the senior athletes within the nine competitors and I am happy it’s that way, so the novice and new persons are learning from them.
“These guys and girls are always willing to help the upcoming athletes that are going forth with them on the competition. So, we are going as a team and we are going to help each other as a team and we are going to bring back success as a team,” Callender noted.
As the stage is set for St. Lucia, all eyes will be on this promising group as they strive for glory on an international platform. The full team is as follows: Melitha Anderson (Wellness Bikini), Sabitha Stephenson (Bikini), Linden Burnett (Bodybuilding), Shemar Burrows (Bodybuilding), Rawle Green (Bodybuilding), Jonathan Jeffrey (Men’s Physique), Anton Baily (Men’s Physique), Romelton Siland (Men’s Fitness) and Sofia Martin (Kids Fitness)
