Pres Ali’s previous ministers enjoying “ME TIME”

September 10, 2025
Except for Mark Phillips and Bharrat Jagdeo, all other members of President Irfaan Ali’s previous cabinet are enjoying what is now being considered a much-needed rest.
After five years of early mornings and late nights, the previous cabinet ministers are reported to be enjoying quality family time and perhaps gardening.
Among those leisure activities, however, there are believed to be great levels of anxiety even as they unwind.
With the President still to name his new cabinet members, among whom some from the previous dispensation will return, though not necessarily in the same capacity.
For the most part, the previous Ministers of Government have not been at work; they have been enjoying “me time” appropriately in anticipation of their new or renewed assignments.
The ministries are reportedly being run by their accounting officers in the form of Permanent Secretaries. It is expected that some will not return as Ministers of Government but could take up other roles within the Irfaan Ali Administration.
Once Parliament is dissolved to make way for elections, those holding ministerial positions cease being Ministers of Government. The ministries are then managed in a technocratic structure.
