A woman who is accused of using a computer to transmit data to humiliate her cousin and aunt was on Monday charged and released on $20,000 bail by Chief Magistrate Ann Mc Lennan. 26-year-old Merissa Waterman, a nail technician of 56 David Street, Kitty, Georgetown.

The first charge stated that between January 30, 2021, and January 31, 2021, at Kitty, Georgetown, Waterman used a computer system to transmit data that was explicit to humiliate Latoya Cameron, her cousin, thereby causing her distress.

It was further alleged that on the same day and at the same location, she used a computer system to transmit data that was explicit to humiliate Deon James, her aunt, thereby causing her distress.

The woman pleaded not guilty to both charges after they were read to her in the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts.  She was represented by attorneys-at-law Mohammed Alli and Yashmini Singh.

Waterman was instructed to make her next court appearance on May 24, 2021.
