Man who slit wife’s throat, stabbed her 13 times remanded on murder charge.

The man who allegedly stabbed his estranged wife 13 times and slit her throat, was on Tuesday, arraigned on a charge for the capital offence of murder.

Fifty two-year-old Junior Halley, a businessman of Now or Never Village, Mahaicony, East Coast Demerara (ECD) was brought before the Sparendaam Magistrates’ Courts.

He was not required to plead to the indictable charge which alleged that he murdered 46-year-old Kim Halley on Thursday, May 4. 

He was remanded to prison until June 22.

According to reports, the woman was found dead with approximately 13 stab wounds and her throat slit in the Alpha Hotel at Ogle, ECD.

Kim, who had reportedly moved out of the house she shared with her partner at Mahaicony because of domestic abuse, resided at Lamaha Park, Georgetown. 

Her bloodied body was discovered by the hotel’s staff. Crime scene detectives observed stab wounds to her hands, faces and other parts of her body.

According to Police Headquarters, a wound measuring some 10 inches in width and five inches in depth was seen to her neck while the blade from the knife was left tangled in her hair.

After allegedly killing his wife, Junior Halley surrendered at the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) headquarters.

He allegedly killed the woman after she reportedly refused to inform her children that they had reconciled.
