Linden man who burnt ex-lover over phone password, remanded to prison

A man who is accused of beating and burning his ex-lover and her sister after she [his ex] failed to give him the password to her phone, was on Thursday remanded to prison after being slapped with two charges of felonious wounding.

29-year-old Rajin Allen of Block 22, Wismar Linden, appeared before Magistrate Wanda Fortune at the Linden Magistrate’s Courts.  It is alleged that he committed the offences on 21-year-old Manisha Singh and her 18-year-old Sunita Singh.

The accused was remanded to prison until April 19, 2021.

According to reports, on the day in question, Manisha and her sister were visiting her three children when she and Allen got into a heated argument after she refused to give him the password to her phone. Allen became annoyed and started assaulting the women.

Sunita reportedly received second-degree burns to her face, head, shoulder, and neck. While her sister was reportedly beaten with a piece of wood and a concrete block.

As a result of the beating, she suffered a fractured skull and internal bleeding. Her right leg is also broken The sisters are currently hospitalized.
