Immigration Officers Now Required to Wear Body Cameras

September 30, 2025 – The Government of Guyana has implemented a new policy requiring all law enforcement officers stationed at ports of entry—airports and other border points—to wear body cameras while on duty.
The measure, which took effect on Monday, September 29, aims to strengthen accountability and transparency in immigration operations.
According to a police statement, Immigration ranks at both the Cheddi Jagan International Airport, Timehri, and the Eugene F. Correia International Airport, Ogle, have already been trained in the use of the devices and began wearing them this week.
Officials said the initiative is part of wider efforts to modernize security operations, improve monitoring, and build public confidence in the services provided at the country’s entry points.
