Guyana Welcomes Inter-Caribbean Airways

December 11 2025
Inter-Caribbean Airways marked a new chapter in regional connectivity today with the launch of its inaugural flight from Barbados to the Eugene F. Correia International Airport.
The service was formally welcomed by Minister of Public Utilities and Aviation, Deodat Indar, during a ceremony at the Ogle facility.
Delivering the feature address, Minister Indar noted that Guyana’s rapid economic expansion continues to fuel significant growth within the aviation sector.
He said the country’s development trajectory is opening new avenues for investment, increased airlift, and greater regional integration.
The minister also applauded Inter-Caribbean Airways for employing Guyanese pilots and crew on the inaugural flight, praising the airline’s decision to showcase the Golden Arrowhead on the tail of one of its aircraft.
This, he said, promotes national pride while strengthening Guyana’s presence in regional aviation.
Several high-level officials attended the event, including Minister of Tourism, Industry and Commerce, Susan Rodrigues; British High Commissioner H.E. Jane Miller; Parliamentary Secretary Thandi McAllister; Director General Alfonso De Armas; and other leaders from the aviation sector.
Minister Indar reaffirmed government’s commitment to supporting expanded air services as Guyana continues to position itself as a key regional hub.
