The police in a statement this morning said that intelligence led operation on Tuesday resulted in the arrest of seven persons and seizing of one .45 Sub Machine Gun with its serial number filed off.

In addition to that, three magazines along with a silencer and one hundred and twenty rounds of live ammunition for a .45 gun as well as one AK47 magazine were recovered.

Police in their statement noted that the arms and ammunition were found in a store room on Church Street, South Cummingsburg, Georgetown.

What the police did not provide in their release, is the names of the persons who were arrested nor did the exact location of the find revealed.

BIG Smith Crime Watch has however managed to speak with several police sources within the Police ‘A’ Division who have confirmed that the discovery of the weapon and ammunition was found at Steve’s Jewellery located on Church Street.

We were also reliably informed that a son of the businessman is among those who were picked up yesterday and that it is he, the son of the businessman who is a licensed firearm holder.

In being a licensed firearm holder, you are only required by law to carry one hundred ammunition at a time
