Fire Chief  Kalamadeen Edoo has proceeded on “leave he has outstanding,” Home Affairs Minister Robeson Benn said on Tuesday. Edoo and the Guyana Fire Service were criticized following the fiery destruction of the Brickdam Police Station on Saturday.

When contacted, Minster Benn was asked if Edoo being asked to proceed on leave was directly linked to the GFS performance at the fire scene, “he needs some time and space,” the Minister responded.

We were told that Edoo will have to hand over to Deputy Chief Fire Officer – Gregory Wickham but there is no indication that this handing over has occurred.

Edoo who served as Deputy Fire Chief, replaced retired Fire Chief Marlon Gentle.
