Berbice Man Nabbed With 54 Kilos of Narcotics.

Ranks from Mahaica Police Station were on an anti-crime patrol in the vicinity of Helena 1, Public Road, East Coast Demerara, on Saturday at approximately 9:30hrs when they observed a canter being driven at a fast rate of speed heading West.
According to a statement issued by the Guyana Police Force, the ranks proceeded to stop the vehicle which was carrying three occupants including the driver who hails from New Amsterdam, Berbice, along with a female and a toddler.
The ranks asked the driver to produce his documents, which he failed to do. He however produced a firearm and handed over a license for same to the police.
The vehicle was then escorted to the Mahaica Police Station where it was observed that the vehicle had hollow blocks, sand and a wheel barrow in the back of the tray.
A search was conducted under the sand and it unearthed two bulky brown salt bags and two bulky transparent parcels suspected to be cannabis.
The two brown bags and the two transparent parcels were removed in their presence where it was observedΒ one bag contained three transparent parcels, the other bag contained two transparent parcels which amounted to (7) seven parcels suspected to be cannabis.
They were told of the allegation, cautioned and arrested. The narcotics was weighed in their presence which amounted to 54.790 kilograms. The firearm was lodged. Further enquiries in progress.
