Covid Task Force shuts down Sleep Inn arrest owner and others

Covid Task Force shuts down Sleep Inn arrest owner and others

The Coronavirus Taskforce on Friday evening conducted a lockdown Operation that targeted several establishments which were in breach of the guidelines that dictate how many persons should be in the facility at the time in a social gathering setting.

A statement from the Task Force on Saturday afternoon noted that the lockdown exercise was conducted between 22:00hrs and 03:30 Hours, Friday night into Saturday morning.

Last night and early this morning, between 22:00 hrs and 03:30 hrs, Ranks from the National Covid Task Force, Guyana Defense Force, and the Guyana Police Force conducted an Operation in Regional Division 4A. During this operation, several persons were detained for breaching the curfew at the following locations” the statement from the task Force noted as it listed the persons who were detained.

*Sleep-In Bar & Casino*

Proprietor Clifton Bacchus and two (2) bartenders.

At the casino ten (10) Chinese nationals eight (8) males (2) females.

 

*Club Altitude* Sandy Babb St Kitty, Georgetown.

Proprietor Meer Rahaman.

ten (10) males and (8) females patrons.

 

*Kairos Bar* Charlotte street Bourda, Georgetown.

Manager Mark Alleyen .

 

*Club Privilege* Main St Georgetown.

Bartender Delon Moffett and his assistant Akeem Carmichael.

There have been several social media and other postings and writings which have made it into the public’s domain where the task force and the Guyana Police Force were questioned about their selective locking down and enforcement in accordance with the Covid-19 guideline while Sleep Inn and some other affiliated establishments were allowed to conduct their activities in breach of the Public Health Ordinance.
