“Baseless and repugnant” Jordan says on Nandlall intended civil proceedings

“Baseless and repugnant” were the words used to describe Attorney General Anil Nandlall’s intention to bring civil proceedings against the former finance minister Winston Jordan.
On Sunday, the Attorney General in a statement listed several companies he is claiming received state lands under the market value.
It was in that statement that he signalled the government’s intention to bring civil proceedings against the minister who managed the country’s purse strings for the last five years.
On Monday, Former Minister Jordan said the statements were designed to “impugn my character, tarnish my image and lower my esteem in the eyes of my family, friends, admirers, well-wishers and the general public.” Jordan through his statement maintains that as a former minister he performed his duties “in compliance with the oath of office,” and the best of his abilities.
However, Jordan said he would not discuss any of the details of information made public by the Attorney General but would do so at the appropriate time.
On Sunday, following the release of a schedule of the companies that paid for state lands in the Ogle, East Coast Demerara area and North Cummingsburg in the city, Attorney General Nandlall said that sanctions would not be made against those companies that return lands.
In a short release, later on Sunday the Attorney General named six companies he said returned lands vested to them without full payment.
The PPP/C administration said that it is reviewing the granting of state lands by several bodies including the Guyana Lands and Survey Commission and the National Industrial and Commercial Investments Limited.
