Wedding plans shift to funeral arrangements as bride-to-be dies in crash

Radha Shivcharran (inset) and the ill-fated motorcycle at the scene on Sunday

Twenty-six-year-old Radha Shivcharran, a mother of one, who was preparing to get married later this year, is now dead, forcing her family to shift gears from wedding plans to funeral arrangements.
Shivcharran was killed on the spot Sunday in a motorcycle accident at Seawell Public Road, Corentyne, Berbice, shortly after she told her fiancé, who is overseas, that she was going and sleep.
BIG Smith News Watch was told that Shivcharran of Lot 86 Belvedere, Corentyne, left her home, while indicating to her mother that she was heading out and would be back shortly.
Shivcharran’s mother indicated that her daughter was scheduled to leave the country in a few weeks to be with her fiancé in Trinidad, since they were supposed to get married.
“When I talk to her fiancé, he said she told him that she was going to sleep and she told me that she going out. I was inside frying bake when she was leaving, so I ask her to eat before she go, and she said she coming back just now,” the mother told BIG Smith News Watch in an interview.
According to the woman, she was unaware that her daughter was leaving home to go on a motorcycle ride. She said her daughter had been warned several times before that she should not be riding on motorcycles.
“She told her fiancé that she was going on a bike with a friend, and so he stopped her from going, after which she indicated to him that she will go and sleep. She bypass the love of her life and my warning, and still went ahead with motorcycle, and now this happen,” the mother related.
BIG Smith News Watch was told that the motorcycle (CK 4094)  on which the woman and the male associate were on, was travelling at a fast rate – reportedly in a race with another motorcycle – when the accident took place. It was stated that the other motorcycle overtook a canter, and when Shivcharran’s friend (identified as Kenny Teekadharry) attempted to do the same thing, he lost control and they crashed.
Teekadharry of Albion Road, has since been hospitalized with a fractured leg.
“He lost control, crashed into the rail, and he and Radha pitch off the bike. But Kenny didn’t tell me that they were racing; he tell me that he see a cow on the road and he try to sway from the cow and he end up into the rail. I try talking to him at the hospital, but he was crying all the time; like he is scared or shocked,” the mother of dead woman recalled.
Radha Shivcharran was described by her family and friends as a jovial and heart-warming person to be around. Her nine-year-old son, Chandradatt Jagdeo, seemed lost as he held tearfully stared at a photograph of his mother.
Shivcharran’s mother said that with her (Radha’s) experience, being a former teacher, she spent most of her leisure time teaching her son and others in the area who were in need of assistance.
