GuySuCo to flood out Success, Chateau Margot squatters

GuySuCo to flood out Success, Chateau Margot squatters

The Guyana Sugar Corporation (GuySuCo) has issued a ‘Red Notice’ alert to squatters who continue to trespass on its lands located at Success and Chateau Margot, East Coast Demerara, that within the next seven days, the entire area which they have illegally occupied will be flooded out.
The sugar company noted that the lands being illegally occupied, and upon which structures are erected, are actually lands that are in active use by GuySuCo for cane breeding, and are part of the research stations of the La Bonne Intention (LBI) Estate. The lands are already earmarked for development of new cane varieties for the industry.
“Approximately seventeen (17) years of priceless research work was destroyed by the trespassers in their quest to clear the lands by burning cane fields. An investigation has been launched and the perpetrators would be prosecuted to the full extent of the law,” a newspaper advertisement by the company indicated.
“Further, with the reopening of the Enmore/LBI Estate, and as[part of the normal land preparation activities for replanting canes, you are hereby advised that those lands would be flooded within seven (7) days from today,” the advertisement also stated which is Dated September 27, 2020 stated.

As such, the sugar company said it therefore demands that squatters, their agents and servants representatives cease all developmental works on the aforesaid lands, and dismantle and remove all structures, materials, machinery and equipment forthwith.
