DEAD: Winston Robertson

Thirty-year-old Winston Robertson’s last wish before his untimely death was to see his wife one more time, while heading to the hospital, after he was shot at a wash bay at Cotton Tree Village, West Coast Berbice, on Monday evening around 7:30. His wish did not materialize. Robertson succumbed Tuesday morning at the New Amsterdam Hospital. The hunt is on for the man who shot him.

Robertson, also known as “High Roller” and “Redman MMR”, left his Lot 2 A Cotton Tree home on Monday just after 4:00pm, headed for the wash bay, located a short distance away from his home, where he was hours later attacked and shot once to his body by a man who it is said, had found out that Robertson was having an affair with his wife.

According to information reaching this publication, Robertson and the young woman were seen at the wash bay earlier in the day, and the husband was later alerted to the fact that his wife and the man (Robertson) were at the car wash, and armed himself before venturing to the location where he opened fire on Robertson.

The man’s wife, who tried to seek cover inside the yard, was dragged out by her irate husband onto the public road where he violently attacked and injured her before fleeing the scene.

This newscast understands that Robertson after being shot, rushed to his car and attempted to drive himself to the Cotton Tree Hospital. It was while doing so that he lost control of his vehicle and slammed into a concrete fence at the side of the road. He was then transported by another vehicle.

Meanwhile, his wife said she received a message on Monday evening that her husband was sending a car to pick her up and take her to the hospital where he was at that time.

“I was somewhat skeptical when I received the message that my husband was sending a car for me because he wants to see me. I have my own car, so I was very puzzled as to what was happening and why he would send a car when he knows I can drive myself. So I got dressed and when I was about to leave I received a call that my husband was shot and was in an ambulance heading to the New Amsterdam hospital, and he asked for me to go see him.”

Robertson’s wife recalled that up to last evening she was not aware of what transpired and led to the shooting, but in tears, she said she has always loved her husband.

The grieving woman described her husband as a kind person who always provided for her and their two children, ages three and nine. He worked as a fisherman and sometimes drove trucks and canters.
