Opposition Leader Azruddin Mohamed and his two co-accused, Mario Mohamed and Eugene Thorne, were on Friday granted bail totalling $2.2 million when they appeared before Magistrate Faith McGusty at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court.
The three men pleaded not guilty to charges involving unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition and attempting to pervert the course of justice.
As part of their bail conditions, the accused must surrender their travel documents and are prohibited from leaving Guyana without the court’s permission.
They are also required to attend all scheduled court hearings and provide their residential addresses, places of employment and telephone numbers.
The court further ordered the men not to contact, threaten or interfere with any witnesses connected to the case.
Magistrate McGusty warned that any breach of the conditions could result in the court reviewing or revising their bail arrangements.
The charges stem from an incident outside the Barr Street, Kitty residence of Senior Superintendent Prem Narine, Head of the Guyana Police Force’s Special Branch, earlier this week.
The matter was adjourned until November 6, 2026.
