Opposition Leader Azruddin Mohamed and his co-accused Mario Mohamed and Eugene Thorne have pleaded not guilty to criminal charges arising from an incident outside the Barr Street, Kitty residence of Senior Superintendent Prem Narine, Head of the Guyana Police Force’s Special Branch.
The accused appeared before Magistrate Faith McGusty at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court, where proceedings continued on an application for bail based on special circumstances.
The charges reportedly include unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition, as well as attempting to pervert the course of justice, in connection with an incident outside Narine’s residence on Monday night.
Mohamed has denied allegations that shots were fired at the senior police officer’s home.
The court is continuing to hear submissions on whether special circumstances exist to justify granting bail to the accused.
