Disgraced controversial sexual harassment and rape accused police officer Fizal Karimbaksh has been given marching orders amidst mounting pressure on the Government of Guyana and the Guyana Police Force to relieve the rape accused of his official police duties following a serious report of rape and death threats which were made against him by a serving female member of the Guyana Police Force.
The move comes 19 days after senior government and police officials became aware of the allegations against Karimbaksh, who at the time served as head of the Special Organized Crime Unit. There has been no clear word on who signed the letter; we were told the letter was issued to Karimbaksh by Commissioner of Police Clifton Hicken.
Prime Minister Mark Phillips, Minister of Governance Gail Teixeira, Minister of Home Affairs Oneidge Walrond, Commissioner of Police Clifton Hicken, or President Irfaan Ali hwho could have signed the letter.
A statement from the Guyana Police Force confirmed that Karimbaksh has been sent on leave due to investigations into allegations of rape and threatening behavior.
On October 07, 2026, the allegations of rape were put to the rape accused, Fizal Karimbaksh, who denied them and said his statement would be provided through his lawyer.
This is not the first time that Fizal Karimbaksh has had an allegation level against him for unwanted sexual advances toward junior female police officers. In fact, allegations of sexual harassment have been against him spanning five Commissioners of Police and Police Administrations. Each time, the system failed the victims, who were all junior ranks, and never got justice.
A five-page report dated March 03, 2023, detailed allegations of unwanted sexual advances which he, Fizal Karimbaksh, made towards female police recruits in 2019.
It was also noted that based on the posture of Karimbaksh, he would present himself at police functions and would reportedly use those appearances to pick his prey, who would usually hear from him via phone calls or text messages after he secured their numbers either from them directly or through third parties.
There was also another sexual allegation which was made against him by another female police officer in 2016. According to that policewoman, she received no justice in the matter.
Karimbaksh is married and has a wife and children, including daughters.
