Two dead following Water Street altercation

Two men were fatally stabbed during an altercation on Water Street, Georgetown, on Friday morning, with a 29-year-old man taken into custody as investigations continue.
Dead are 23-year-old vendor Wreford Vincent Trim, called “Junior Browne”, of Durban Backlands, Georgetown, and 36-year-old labourer Tyrone Captain of Eversham, Corentyne, Berbice, and Beepat Squatting Area, Sophia.
The incident reportedly occurred at about 9:30 a.m. during an altercation involving the two men and a 29-year-old salesman of Industry, East Coast Demerara.
Both Trim and Captain sustained stab wounds.
Trim was later found on Commerce Street, where he was pronounced dead by a doctor from the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation. Captain was taken to the hospital but died while receiving medical attention.
The 29-year-old suspect was arrested and remains in custody. A knife believed to have been used in the incident was recovered and lodged for examination.
CCTV footage has also been obtained as investigators work to determine the circumstances surrounding the deadly altercation.
The bodies are awaiting post-mortem examinations.
