Man granted bail for obstructing murder investigation

June 19 2026
A 36-year-old Albouystown labourer has been charged with attempting to obstruct the course of justice after allegedly falsely implicating himself in a murder investigation.
Junior Callender of Hogg Street was charged under Section 330 of the Criminal Law (Offences) Act in connection with investigations into the alleged murder of Daintier Vegas Infante, which occurred on May 10, 2026, at Forshaw Street, Alberttown.
Police allege that Callender sought to take responsibility for a wanted individual linked to the murder probe, thereby attempting to mislead investigators.
Callender was arrested on June 18 and appeared before Magistrate Orintha Schmidt at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court on Thursday, where the charge was read to him. He was not required to plead.
He was granted $175,000 bail and ordered to report to police every Friday at 9:00 hrs. The matter was adjourned to July 3, 2026.
