Agriculture Minister Zulfikar Mustapha, along with several Cabinet Ministers and officials from the National Drainage and Irrigation Authority (NDIA), were deployed across various parts of the country to assess flooding and monitor drainage operations following heavy rainfall.
The move came after more than 4.5 inches of rain fell within a 24-hour period, resulting in flooding in several communities and raising concerns among residents.
Authorities reported that all drainage pumps remained fully operational as efforts intensified to manage water levels and reduce the impact of flooding in affected areas.
As part of the response, additional pumps were dispatched to vulnerable communities to accelerate drainage and provide relief to residents impacted by the persistent rainfall.
Government officials said teams remained on the ground monitoring conditions and coordinating mitigation efforts, while agencies continued to maintain a high state of readiness as weather conditions evolved.
