CI beheading: Woman’s 24-Y-O son remains in custody

From the Police: 

Police in Regional Division #3 are investigating the murder of SurajDai Kahriu called “Sharda” of Cornelia Ida West Coast Demerara.

Police believe the incident occurred between 16:25hrs and 22:40hrs on Thursday, May 28, 2026, at Cornelia Ida, resulting in the death of the 55-year-old supervisor.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the woman resided at the location with her two sons.

According to the police report, one of them reportedly returned home and made the discovery after finding her motionless inside the house.

The other son, a 24-year-old construction worker of the same address, was seen at the premises and later taken into custody as part of the investigation.

Police ranks responded to the scene, where the body was examined and marks of violence were observed.

The body was later escorted to Ezekiel Funeral Home, pending a post-mortem examination.

Investigators also noted the presence of CCTV cameras in the vicinity, which are expected to be reviewed as part of ongoing inquiries.

The suspect remains in police custody as investigations continue.
