Part of the coaching session hosted by the YBG.

Youth Basketball Guyana (YBG) held a one-day youth coaching programme on Tuesday and Chairman of YBG Chris Bowman highlighted the key ingredient that makes such programmes a success.

“The most important partners are you the teachers and coaches that make this happen at the grass root level and the good thing is we have more teachers from out of Georgetown than in Georgetown,” Bowman highlighted.

Bowman further noted that having such a wide casting net of teachers is a major plus for the development of basketball at the grassroot level.

“That is one of the great recent developments, having teachers from Berbice and Essequibo and part of our focus is developing those areas because we see the effort and the willingness,” Bowman noted

The programme was held at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall where teachers and coaches from across Guyana learned the fundamentals in coaching the game of basketball at the youth level.
