Man gets 6 months jail for threatening Attorney-at-Law

It is said that blood runs thicker than water, however, that did not stand in the way of Attorney-at-Law Jentle Elias, when he dragged his brother before the courts for threatening language.
49-year-old Joshua Payne, a labourer who has no fixed address, was on Wednesday sentenced to six months imprisonment after admitting to using threatening language against his brother, an Attorney-at-Law, in a family violence matter.
Payne was arrested on May 11 by police and later charged under Section 141(a) of the Summary Jurisdiction (Offences) Act.
The man allegedly threatened his brother, Attorney-at-Law Jentle Elias of Providence, East Bank Demerara.
Payne appeared before Magistrate Dylon Bess at Demerara Magistrate’s Court, where he pleaded guilty to the charge.
He was subsequently sentenced to six months behind bars.
