Hundreds of citizens gathered at the Arthur Chung Conference Centre on Monday as Vice President Dr. Bharrat Jagdeo led ‘Public Day’  a ministerial outreach initiative aimed at addressing public concerns and providing direct access to government services.

Accompanied by several Cabinet ministers and other senior government officials, the Vice President engaged members of the public who turned out in large numbers seeking assistance, raising community issues, and discussing matters affecting their daily lives.

Among the ministers present were Minister of Agriculture Zulfikar Mustapha, Minister of Housing and Water Collin Croal, Minister of Human Services and Social Security Dr. Vindhya Persaud, Minister of Natural Resources Vickram Bharrat, Minister of Public Utilities and Aviation Deodat Indar, Minister within the Office of the Prime Minister Kwame McCoy, and Minister within the Ministry of Public Works Deodat Indar. Minister within the Ministry of Public Works Madanlall Ramraj was also present, along with other government representatives and heads of agencies.

The outreach initiative allows citizens to engage directly with Cabinet members and officials as the government continues to push for faster resolution of personal and community-related matters through face-to-face interactions.

Speaking briefly with members of the media, Vice President Jagdeo said efforts are being made to ensure that issues raised by citizens are dealt with promptly.

According to the Vice President, systems are being put in place to resolve matters immediately where possible, while mechanisms will also be established to effectively address issues that require further attention.

The event saw a massive turnout, with long lines of persons seeking assistance and consultations from the various ministries and government agencies represented.
