Residents and miners of Port Kaituma and surrounding communities in Region One recently met with Minister of Natural Resources, Vickram Bharrat, and Minister of Housing and Water, Collin Croal, during a series of engagements aimed at addressing pressing local issues.

The outreach culminated in a community meeting at the Port Kaituma Community Centre, where residents gathered alongside regional officials to voice concerns, particularly those affecting the mining sector.

Among those in attendance were Regional Executive Officer Mr. Sewchand, Prime Minister’s Representative Margaret Lambert, Vice Chairman Paul Pierre, and other regional representatives.

Minister Croal provided updates on housing initiatives and ongoing development projects within the region, while Minister Bharrat addressed matters related to natural resources, responding directly to issues raised by miners and residents.

Both Ministers reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to engaging communities and working towards practical solutions to support sustainable development in Region One.
