Berbice man remanded for drug trafficking

A 31-year-old driver from No. 28 Village, Berbice, has been remanded to prison after being charged with possession of narcotics for the purpose of trafficking.
Patrick Roach was arrested on March 5, 2026, at Helena Public Road, East Coast Demerara, after authorities allegedly found 6.80 pounds of cannabis in his possession, equivalent to 3,084.428 grams.
Roach appeared on Friday, March 6, 2026, before Magistrate A. Wilson at the Mahaicony Magistrate’s Court, where the charge was read to him. He pleaded not guilty to the offence.
Bail was refused and Roach was remanded to prison. The matter was adjourned to March 31, 2026.
