NSC, Ministry of Health take over CASH with physiotherapy seminar

Coaches and members of various associations pose after the conclusion of the physiotherapy clinic
The National Sports Commission (NSC), in conjunction with the Ministry of Health, hosted an innovative Physiotherapy Seminar for Coaches at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall on Friday.
This seminar was designed to connect medical expertise with coaching practices, aiming to enhance athlete safety and well-being.
The seminar addressed the historical gap between clinical sports medicine and everyday training with the one-day event representing a significant government effort to professionalize athlete care across all disciplines.
With nearly 90 coaches in attendance, the seminar was guided by the leadership of Director of Sport Steve Ninvalle, NSC Deputy Chair Cristy Campbell, and Dr. Ariane Mangar, who oversees Rehabilitation Services.
The curriculum featured insights from leading physiotherapists and covered essential topics such as injury mechanics, acute management of concussions and heat illnesses, and the significance of structured physical preparation. Coaches were educated on how their roles are crucial in preventing injuries and ensuring athlete readiness.
The event concluded with a forward-looking discussion, where coaches were introduced to the IOC Injury Prevention Protocol and plans for establishing an injury-tracking system.
The NSC also announced future initiatives, including a dedicated Sports Psychology Seminar and programs aimed at supporting women in sports, athletes with disabilities, and master’s competitors, reinforcing their commitment to comprehensive athlete welfare and support.
