A routine workday turned fatal on Sunday morning when 63-year-old truck operator Toolsie Ram Singh, known locally as “Base Man,” lost his life in a horrific electrical accident.

Police in Regional Division #2 have launched an investigation into the incident, which occurred around 10:30 a.m. at Barakat Dam.

According to police reports, Singh was operating a Hiab truck, loading logs, when the boom of the vehicle made contact with overhead power lines.

The resulting electrical discharge caused him to collapse on the spot.

Eyewitnesses rushed to his aid, but despite being transported to Charity Cottage Hospital, Singh was pronounced dead on arrival.

An initial examination revealed severe burn injuries to his right hand.

The body has been taken to the hospital mortuary, awaiting a post-mortem examination. Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the tragic accident.
