Several injured, fatality reported in freak accident on Demerara River Bridge 

A devastating accident on the Bharrat Jagdeo Demerara River Bridge has claimed the life of an unidentified woman, while several other persons are reportedly nursing serious injuries.

The early morning incident involved a truck, multiple cars, a motorcycle, and a minibus. Preliminary reports indicate that the truck lost control and rolled backwards, plowing into a line of vehicles behind it and triggering a violent chain-reaction collision.

Video captured by a passerby shows the truck careening backward before slamming into several vehicles, with the two closest behind it absorbing the brunt of the impact. The force of the crash reportedly caused extensive vehicle damage, critical injuries, and at least one fatality.

At least five vehicles are believed to have been damaged in the crash, leaving a chaotic and distressing scene of mangled metal, shattered parts, and injured victims on the bridge.

Public-spirited citizens rushed to assist those trapped or wounded in the aftermath.
