Linden Municipality Meets Avalon Gold on OMAI Project

Representatives of Canada-based Avalon Gold Exploration Inc. (AGEI) on Friday met with leaders of the Linden Municipality, regional officials and key stakeholders to discuss preliminary scoping work related to Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs) for the proposed OMAI Gold Project.
The meeting involved members of the Linden Mayor and Town Council, the Regional Democratic Council (RDC), and several current and former municipal and regional officials. Those in attendance included Mayor Dominique Blair; MPs Sharma Solomon and Ryan Richards; Regional Vice Chairman Mark Goring; former Deputy Mayor Wayne Betune; Deron John, former Assistant Regional Executive Officer; RDC Councillor Leola Naraine; Councillor Michelle Daniels; Linden Chamber of Commerce representative Staydon Payne; and consultant Leon Roberts.
Discussions focused on AGEI’s intention to continue community consultations as part of its efforts to secure a mining licence, which would allow for the commencement of mine construction in the medium term. The company also expressed its commitment to working collaboratively with communities such as Linden through structured Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives.
Municipal and regional representatives underscored the importance of meaningful community engagement, transparency, environmental responsibility, and the delivery of tangible benefits to residents. These include opportunities for local employment, participation by local businesses, and broader social development.
The Linden Municipality reiterated its commitment to ensuring that any major development within or around the town is undertaken in a manner that prioritises the interests and wellbeing of Linden residents, while promoting sustainable development and responsible investment.
