A 47-Y-O minibus driver and chicken farmer was shot dead during the early hours of Tuesday, morning at Bamia along the Soesdyke–Linden Highway.

The deceased has been identified as Dion Shawn Ramdyhan.

The incident reportedly occurred at about 2:30 am.

According to police, Ramdyhan was at home with his friend, Ernest Hall, a 60-year-old chicken farmer, when the shooting took place.

Hall told investigators that on Monday night, December 29, at around 10:00 p.m., he and Ramdyhan were inside a small zinc structure that was secured before they went to sleep.

Hall said he was awakened around 2:30 a.m. by loud explosions, which he later realized were gunshots.

He recalled hearing Ramdyhan calling out for help and groaning in pain.

Shortly after, Ramdyhan became motionless.

Hall reportedly ran out of the house and alerted neighbours, who responded and contacted the authorities.

Police found Ramdyhan’s body with multiple gunshot wounds -estimated to be about eight.

Several spent shells were also discovered at the location.

The murder weapon has not been found and the identity of the shooter remains unknown at this time.
