Courts Optical along with the Petra Organisation launched the 12th annual Pee-Wee School under-11 Football tournament scheduled to kick off September 20 at the Ministry of Education ground.

Speaking at the launching, which was held at Courts Guyana Main Street branch, Chain Manager of Courts Optical, Richard Simpson highlighted the importance of the having well organized sporting events for young children.

“Today (September 12), as we celebrate the 12th year of the Pee Wee Football Tournament, we are reminded of why this event matters so deeply. More than a game, it’s a platform to nurture young talent, encourage discipline and create opportunities that go far beyond the football field.

“Our sponsorship is not just about football, it’s about supporting dreams, building character and giving children the confidence to believe in their potential,” Simpson stated.

Co-Director of the Petra Organisation, Troy Mendonca, thanked Courts Guyana for being onboard with a tournament that has aided in talent spotting at the grassroot level.

“Nevertheless, we know the impact had on players going on to represent the country and I think also we were able to create leaders in their own rights. This has also had its impact on the physical well being on our kids,” Mendonca noted.

Assistant Director of Sport, Melissa Dow-Richardson commended both Courts Optical and the Petra Organisation for their continued investment in youths through football.

“I am truly happy, humbled and honoured to be here this afternoon to support and celebrate your efforts in collaboration with Courts, we can only thank you for your corporate sponsorship. I want to wish the Petra Organisation continued consistency with this competition at the junior level because this is where our athletes learn the fundamentals of football,” Dow-Richardson highlighted.

Administrator at the Unit of Allied Arts within the Ministry of Education, Nicholas Fraser commended the growth of the tournament while Brand Manager at Courts Optical Ricardo Semple declared the tournament open in his closing remarks.

The tournament is scheduled to kickoff with playoff action for a few teams to secure their spot in the tournament that will officially kickoff on September 27.
