‘Max’ Charged with Murder of Derreck Prostea

May 9 2025- A 25-year-old man has been formally charged with the murder of Derreck Sylvester Prostea, who was fatally stabbed during an incident at Grove Public Road, East Bank Demerara, on Wednesday, May 7, 2025.

The accused, Akesi Primo, also known as ‘Max,’ of Lot 229 Kaneville, East Bank Demerara, was arrested and later charged with murder, contrary to common law.

He appeared before Magistrate Court #2 at Diamond, where the indictable charge was read to him.

Primo was not required to enter a plea and was remanded to prison.

The case has been adjourned until June 9, 2025.

The victim, 48-year-old Derreck Prostea of Grove, East Bank Demerara, was reportedly involved in an altercation with the accused prior to the fatal incident.
