May 6, 2025 – The Ministry of Home Affairs, through a public statement, has announced the appointment of a seasoned Canadian investigator to support the ongoing investigation into the death of Adriana Younge, reaffirming the government’s commitment to transparency and justice.

Leonard McCoshen, a retired officer of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP), has been engaged by the Government of Guyana to assist local authorities in the high-profile case. The move follows a commitment by President Dr. Irfaan Ali to ensure a comprehensive and credible probe into the circumstances surrounding Younge’s death.

Mr. McCoshen brings over 30 years of experience in law enforcement, with two decades spent in the RCMP’s Serious Crimes Branch under the Major Crimes Unit. A certified specialist in homicide and suspicious death investigations, he has led and coordinated more than 200 complex cases, including those involving murder, kidnapping, and other violent crimes.

His expertise is expected to bolster the capacity of the investigative team as efforts continue to determine the facts behind Ms. Younge’s untimely passing. Authorities believe Mr. McCoshen’s involvement will ensure that the investigation meets international standards and instills public confidence in the outcome.

The Ministry of Home Affairs emphasized that this appointment is part of a broader effort to strengthen accountability and uphold justice in sensitive cases.
