Millionaires trapped in Richmondville housing development at Providence

A number of wealthy individuals including CEOs’ and General Managers are trapped inside the Richmondville Housing Development at Providence, East Bank Demerara with their free movement being restricted.

At the moment, the main access road in the community is being upgraded from a crater stretch to a concrete road.

However despite this, residents are prevented from using another road and gate which gives access in and out of the community.

The access in and out via that secondary road and entrance is being denied by the Home Owners Association which is contending that the road was built by a businessman and that the gate which gives access to that road was upgraded with remote access but not for all the villagers to use.

It should be noted that area where the businessman reportedly built the road and the gate on which the remote lock was installed, was originally identified as the community’s service entrance for garbage trucks and other vehicles doing deliveries to access.

The service entrance has now been converted to the private access for a few persons in the community who were issued with keys while the other residents have been barred from its use and access.

Persons living in the community have been having major issues for years in relation to access in and out of the community even as roads which were to be done years ago are yet to be completed despite fees being paid monthly by some property owners.

Over the weekend, a number of persons were unable to gain access to their property although they live in the area. This is so because the main road in the area is dug up for construction while the access to the community through what was once the service entrance is restricted. The area now serves as the private road and access for a few in the community while remaining closed to 98 percent of the other property owners and residents.

A number of the residents have already indicated their willingness to challenged a number of issues and policies positions of the community’s Home Owners Association which they claim to be unlawful and criminal.
