Couple arrested as AK-47, pistol, weed and currency found in North Sophia

Police ranks from the Criminal Investigation Department Headquarters arrested two person including a woman following what the force described as a more than six hours intelligence operation in North Sophia.

The operation which took place Sunday morning saw the discovery of one AK-47 Assault rifle along with a pistol and several rounds of live ammunition for both weapons.

Further to that, the search also produced a quantity of foreign currency and more than thirty two kilograms of suspected cannabis.

Currency which are suspected to have been gained from the sale of the cannabis

The police force has indicated that they will provide a further update on this matter even as they continue their search for a third person who is said to be connected to the discovery also.

This is the second AK-47 rifle to have been found by the police in the last three weeks following operations which were all intelligence led.
